Privacy Policy

At Mathangi, we value your privacy and are committed to protecting your personal data. This policy outlines how we collect, use, and safeguard your information when you interact with us or place an order.

Information We Collect

We only collect the minimum information required to fulfill your orders and provide customer support:

  • Order Details: Your name, delivery address with pincode, email address, and phone number so the courier can reach you.
  • Chat Communication: For orders placed via WhatsApp or Instagram Direct Message, we store the chat conversation and details you explicitly provide during our interaction.
  • Technical Logs: Standard server logs collected by our host (Cloudflare), including your IP address, browser/device type, and pages visited.
  • Saved Items: If you tap the heart on a piece, we store which piece you saved so your wishlist is still there when you come back. If you later sign in, your saved pieces are linked to your account, and we may write to you about them — for example if a saree you saved goes on sale.
  • How You Found Us: On your first visit we record the page you arrived on, the website that referred you (for example Instagram), and the city and country our host reports. We do not store your IP address alongside this.
  • Payment Credentials: We NEVER collect or store credit/debit card details, CVVs, UPI PINs, or OTPs. We will never ask for these under any circumstances.

How We Use Your Information

Your details are used strictly for:

  • Packing and delivering your order to your provided address.
  • Sending order confirmations, tracking details, and handling customer inquiries.
  • Fulfilling legal, tax, and accounting obligations under Indian law.
  • Detecting and preventing fraud.
  • Letting you know about a piece you saved — for example if it is running low or the price has dropped. You can ask us to stop at any time.

Basis for Processing

We process your personal data based on your explicit consent when sharing details to place an order or contact us. This handling aligns with our obligations under the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 (DPDP Act) and the Information Technology Act, 2000.

Cookies

We do not use third-party advertising cookies, and we do not sell or share what you do here with advertisers. The cookies we set are our own:

  • Display preferences: the colour you chose and how many pieces you want in a row. No personal information, one year.
  • Your basket: so it is still there when you come back.
  • A visit cookie: a random number that lets us keep your saved pieces and remember how you first found us. It holds no name, email or address. Clearing your cookies clears it, and your saved pieces with it.
  • Security: one set by Cloudflare for the quick check on our forms, which is what stops them being flooded by automated messages.

Sharing Your Information

We do not sell, rent, or trade your data. We only share details with necessary third parties strictly for order fulfilment:

  • Logistics & Couriers: Your name, delivery address, and phone number to deliver parcels.
  • Communication Platforms: Meta platforms (WhatsApp and Instagram) where chat conversations take place.

Data Retention & Rights

  • Retention: Order records are retained as required by tax and legal regulations. Chat histories are periodically cleared after order completion.
